OHIP coverage in case work permit extension is implied state

Hi,
My work permit is expired in last month and before that I have submitted application for extension and not received extension confirmation due to application processing delay. Please help me to know do I and my wife will get OHIP coverage during this time. My current status is implied.

I have closed work permit.

Did you get a new LMIA?

I have been told by service Ontario that I will not get health coverage if my status is implied. It will be renew only when I received new work permit.

Are you working for the same employer?

 

[Masoom55]

Yes for same employer. Service Ontario told that health coverage is not present when status is implied. They asked to come after renewal of work permit till then I have to pay.

Have a brain blank for some reason today. Maybe others can help me out. I believe you don’t get coverage during implied status when extending closed work permit but not 100% sure. Also hope you have a new LMIA.
