August 2023 applicant here.
- By October 2023, I had cleared my citizenship test.
- A whole year went by and didn't have any updates - followed up through the Web form numerous times but no response.
- In November 2024, I contacted my MP and around the same time all of a sudden I got ghost updates showing BG and prohibitions in progress. No update since then.
- Later in December 2024, I contacted the MP again and they said my as per IRCC my file was a "non-routine" file and I just need to wait.
- I contacted IRCC again through Web form and this time - for the first time - I got a response and they said they received my follow up request and rest assured they are working on it. However, no updates on the application.

UPDATE : After almost one year (Since Nov-15, 2024) I finally got un update on the Background check - it's complete! Now it's Prohibitions in progress.
Anyone else got any updates today or in the recent days?

yes there was someone in another thread that got updates after 18 months or so. Background first and then the next day prohibitions cleared. Good luck!

My citizenship test was cleared in July 2023 and last update was received on October 2023! And nothing after that. Still prohibition, physical presence and language eligibility is under processing. I’ve submitted the web forms multiple times, called IRCC and contacted MP. The best I could obtain is - the application is under non-routine and there’s no timeline. I’ve voluntarily added documents to support the application like travel history with tickets, stamps, and all. I don’t know what else to do! Anyone in the same situation?

Long silence for almost 2 years

• Background Verification changed to Completed and then back to In Progress: Feb 19, 2026

• Second Biometrics Requested: Feb 20, 2026

• Background Verification Completed: Mar 4, 2026



• Prohibitions Completed: Mar 7, 2026

Current Status:

• Citizenship Ceremony: Pending
