How do you apply for GCMS without medical?

I'm confused what is the GCMS needed for? I checked out the link but it says you need to be a Canadian citizen to apply, so I don't see how this comes into play?

no, u need to be a Canadian or individual currently stay in Canada. u can attach ur work permit or driving license as proof. U need to apply under privacy act and it is free of charge.

Is it a necessity for the residency application though?

Yea.. seriously it's crazy..
When is this strike going to end?
Why holding back of ordinary people? They should look for another way to negotiate with government.
Are pafso trying to set a world record of longest strike ever? Oh well they should be very proud! Way to go pafso.

Called cic today to find out if they can give any useful info on the current delay. She said its all because of the strike and cec category is for sure affected by that.

It hasn't slowed down my application. I was waiting on a police certificate from back home. I got it now and submitted it early this month.

Wrong. They asked for a police report and it took me since July to turn it in. So again, it has not slowed down my application what so ever.

My police record was clear so they didnt ask me for rcmp fingerprint or another PCC. they even passed my eligibility back in June. Yes the whole process is slowed down.

Maybe for you, but not for everyone. You can only speak on your own behalf. Mine has actually been good progress.

I really hope I am wrong.
It seems criminality check was already done last April on my file.
Your case may be further delayed because of the delay on your side

looks like Summer and Strike are the reasons for delay.

Foreign service job action threatens Canada’s annual immigration target:
The number of immigrant visas granted from this summer dropped 7.5 per cent, while temporary visitor visas were up 11 per cent.
