Hi,

I am from India and I finished my Masters at University of Alberta in May 2016. Currently, I am on PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) which is valid till June 2019. I don't own any Canadian Driving License currently. While reading the Alberta Driving License application rules, I came across the GDL exemption program. It was written that Indians, under 25 years of age (which I am) and with less than 2 years of driving experience, will be eligible for Basic Road Test.

I will be going to India in October. I will be getting my Indian Driving License by the end of October. Then, once I come back to Canada, I can use my Indian driving license to enter into GDL exemption program. However, since my license will be less than a month old, will I still be eligible for Basic Road Test?

Any help regarding this will be much appreciated. If I am eligible for the Basic Road Test, I won't have to hold Class 7 Learner's License for one year.

Thanks

Just to clarify you will only have less than one months driving experience or the licence itself would only be one month old.

Hi,

Thanks for replying :)
This will be my first Driving License. However, I do have past driving experience in India and I do know how to drive quite well (in India).
Since my driving license would be one month old, I think it should qualify as one month driving experience as well.

Thanks
