Well got my first response - the entire packet back. Seems I misread an instruction and missed a form. So filled it out and sent it back. Oh well, back of the queue for me, guess I’ll start following the Feb Outland thread too. Unless they take pity on me and don’t make me wait another 3 months (laughing...)

Sorry to hear that Bruce. It seems hit and miss whether they’ll send it all back or just ask for another form. Fingers crossed they process it fast for you - they do seem to be getting quicker by the month.

So I've searched everywhere and I still can't find a clear answer. I'm the PA applying from the US. I see that PAs from Americas now need to do biometrics beginning Jan 1, 2019. My application was received in Nov. of course. I did pay the biometrics fee up front just in case. Am I still required to do biometrics even if my app was received before the new requirements went into effect? Thanks!

Usually if your application was filed before the date of new requirement, they would not ask you for biometrics but since you have paid, even if they do it wont be another delay in your application. Worst case scenario you lose your money on the fee haha.

Yeah, at least it wasn't a HUGE amount of money, the total app fee is bad enough, lol. If they don't need it, that just saves me a 2.5 hour drive one way.

Edit: Ok, found something that was apparently on the official site.
"I am from Asia, Asia Pacific or the Americas and have applied for a visa, work or study permit, or for permanent residence before December 31, 2018, but my application is still being processed. Do I have to give my biometrics?
If you’re from a country in Asia, Asia Pacific or the Americas and we received your application before December 31, 2018, you don’t need to give your biometrics, even if your application is still being processed."

The additional family information - I misread it as other family members also applying. Nope, needed for everyone.
I forgot to sign those forms but they asked me to send them signed to thom. Now hope I won't have to wait back in the que

I have a question to those who has done biometrics..once you get your fingerprints and photo taken at the VAC, who is responsible submitting it? The PA or the place that did the biometrics? And where it needs to be submitted? Thanks :)

The VAC that takes them submits them electronically; you don't need to do anything. In our case, they showed up as received in GCKey the same day.

Our timeline is vaguely similar. Application received on the 15th of Nov. SA correspondence on ECAS says sent to me on the 13th of Feb (still haven't received it yet) Biometrics request received on the 12th of Feb. Completed on the 13th of Feb.

No, you do not lose the fee paid. You get refunded, just takes a very long time for that process to happen.
