AOR 8th Nov

Current status

We are reviewing whether you meet eligibility requirement
You have passed medical exam
We are processing your background check. (Updated on 30th April)

Processing background check doesnt starts after meeting eligibility?
Coz my status is "reviewing whether I meet eligibility" and "processing background check" both.

I have received PPR on 26th April and it still shows ‘processing background’ and ‘reviewing eligibility’. I think they’re focusing on sending out PPRS rather than updating individual accounts. Just hold your horses guys.. even if it crosses 180 days, your waiting period will be much less than the period you’ve waited till date. Couple of weeks maybe, not more than that. Wish you all good luck !!

The problem with crossing 6 month mark is you go into a blackhole..
CIC has an obligation to clear 80% of files within 6 months...the rest of 20% after 6 months have no service level obligation....So CIC can clear the 20% over 6 month mark within a week, a month or 10 months no one can really question them....

You can question them. You can raise a CSE and ask for updates.

So I am Nov 1st AOR. Today completed the full 180 days.
Account is updated with "Your application is taking us longer than usual to process"
MEP on Dec 1st. No updates after that.
Still eligibility review in progress.
The waiting is going to be longer.

Ordered GCMS notes on Apr 22
Going to raise web form by tomorrow.

Anyone else with Nov 1st AOR with no updates after MEP?
I'm Nov 3rd AOR no updates after MEP and AdR IMM 5669 Request in December. Still in IP1. This suspense is excruciatingly painful

Question as in ask for an update for sure....But you can't expect them to action your file quicker...
The officers are always focused on clearing files within 6 months....so they put the 'over 6 month' mark files aside so they can meet targets for new files within 6 months..If it makes sense....

I agree on that. But you can keep badgering them with loads of CSEs until they pick up your file. My point is... don’t lose hope. When I went to submit my passport I met someone who crossed a few weeks over 6 months mark. Just don’t lose hope my friend !!

How they understand which file will be “over 6 month” and which not if they have not opened it. A lot of files laying there with any movement after MEP. My opinion is that they just can’t keep up and that is all.

AOR 28 Nov, only MEP cleared.

I suspect two things cause delays these days:
1. After what happened in Sri Lanka, security checks for all South Asians would/should/could be tightened. <- cases where eligibility is done, but no PPR yet
2. Many NOCs likely need an in-depth assessment, and CIC might not have appropriate skill to assess (example: digital marketing specialists) or is overloaded with certain NOCs (example: inadequate manpower checking the many computer programmers) <-- cases where eligibility is not yet met

Can not really think of any other logical reason about the delays..
