To other CPP-Ottawa people:

Has anyone's ECAS gone from "Application Received" to "In Process?" Anything about "Documentation Verified" or whatnot? Nothing's happened on mine since early February. I figured that's normal, but I'm curious.

i'm not ottawa i'm los angeles but my ecas has been just "in process" since february. just says medical results received and when they started processing my application and when they received it. i don't think ecas is really reliable though they update it very randomly and also very rarely.

Thanks for the reply! Are you sure you're through LA? The CIC site says all U.S. permanent resident applications go through CPP-Ottawa, so I'm kind of surprised to hear they re-routed you.
Yeah, I've heard similar things about ECAS, but if other people were getting any changes I thought it would be good to know. Be nice to have a comparison point. Not that it would guarantee anything, of course.

yes im positive. i wasnt at first because i never even got the confirmation that we were approved for sponsorship and that my application was forwarded to the visa office. i found out we got first stage approval by having my husband call them and they verified the e-mail it was supposed to be sent to (which was correct) and it just never went through, and while on the phone they told him that it was forwarded to LA... i didn't beleive them because, just as you said, all US applicants were supposed to be forwarded to Ottawa... I e-mailed LA asking for a confirmation that my application was there because apparntly once they send out the letter for first stage approval they can't do it ever again, and they confirmed that it was in fact there. i dont know why they did that, but i guess i'll never know lol.

but i get what you mean, i'm always trying to compare my time frame to all the -previsous months applicaants. im wondering what the next notification will be on ecas if or when they upadte it again

Huh, interesting. I don't think I'd know if I was transferred or not; they said they were forwarding it to CPP-Ottwa, but that was it. I never got an AOR, either, and was among the black-hole group who didn't get spousal approval until February, so I'm not really counting on anything at this point. I'm just hoping I don't have to get medical or FBI clearance re-done. Thanks for the comments!

My ecas still say "application received" as well, plus "medical results have been received".
It is nice to see where people's applications are at, so I don't freak out so much.
My concern now is that I've sent a application for Visitor and on the site it says people usually get a reply in 14 days for Sao Paulo. It has been 15 days today. I'm freaking out! I just hope they've combined both applications and instead of looking into the Visitor first, they just process our main application and let me go stay with my man!

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum but have been reading your posts for a while. I am also a November applicant sponsoring my husband who is in South Africa. We could not send his medical with the main application as the doctor said he could not do it without a request from CIC. On 23rd January we received a letter form CPP ottawa (via our lawyer) saying our application was incomplete and my husband needed to do his medical which he did and sent the IMM1017 copy 2 form directly to CPP Ottawa via DHL. It was received ie signed for by someone at CPP Ottawa on the 4th of February. The doctor informed us that he will send the medical via courier to London where cic will access the results electronically and that the courier would take 5 days to get to London. Ever since then our status on ecas has remained as "application received" on the 9th of November 2012. I contacted our lawyer to ask him if he can contact CPP Ottawa to check the progress of our application and also whether he received a letter of sponsorship approval but he did not seem to want to do this and said this status on ecas was normal. He was very unhelpful and also said that contacting CPP ottawa would only lead to further delays on our application. I am so frustrated as I now regret using a lawyer especially after discovering this great forum!
I guess my question to you all is, is there anyone else still having "application received" at this stage. Any suggestions/advice from would be really appreciated! So frustrated!!!!!

Hello MrsN,

I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles; I've seen other people on the forum have lawyer issues, and my heart goes out to anyone who does. My application arrived at Mississauga on Nov 19; ECAS is still showing just "Application Received," as are some other Nov applicants who replied to my query. However, I have also heard from several sources that ECAS does not always change, and they have gotten a passport request or even a visa before it changes.
Best of luck, you might check the forums to see if there are any steps you can take against your lawyer? At the very least, maybe you can review him online or something?

Frustrating for sure :(
Even though you are using a representative... you can still call CIC yourself to inquire about the status of your sponsorship application since the processing date is well beyond when your application has been received.

You can also decide to opt out of using a representative :)

Thank you so much honjooshi and cdnmom! Its good to know that there are still others with the same ecas status as ours. It makes me feel a bit better. I think I will not bother checking ecas regularly from now on. I had contacted the lawyer simply because I am paying him and was busy at the time but I think I will follow things up myself from now on and see what happens!

Well good news - we got our GCMS notes today via email!

Quick question: I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer on whether this will be a positive or negative to the application or not.

One of the notes says: "No CSCD date because no biodata on photos and no 1017, but do have a copy of medicals"
We pretty much figured out when we got to our doctor for the medicals that she had NO IDEA what she was doing, so we made them give us a copy of the medical sheet to include because I had this inkling that things would go wrong. They haven't asked us for any additional information yet (probably because no November apps going thru London yet are being looked at). Any ideas?

Thanks! :)
