So waiting for the CIC website to update the application processing times and oh boy......
39 days
Working on applications received on November 2, 2012
Not a huge advance from the previous date
35 days
Working on applications recieved October 31

They must have hit a large bump in the road or a zillion more applications for November. Well for some of the November applicants whose applications arrived at CIC Nov 1,2,,,,,,it looks like they are over the projected 39 days to process your files so you should be able to call the call center and possibly recieve some news.... :)For the rest of us,,,,I guess it is hurry up and wait.....longer... :(

During busy season at the Govmnt, usually it is between mid Sept - end of Nov, workforce is fully utilized (no vacation, limited days off, longer hours)...but when December comes, a lot of employees will take more days off, vacation, holidays, etc. Therefore, and unfortunate for Nov and Dec applicants, the wait time will increase....as evidence CIC website: processing time has increased from 32 to 39 days in the last month or so.

Yessssssss patience is certianly a virtue. I think it is more difficult to deal with here as not only is there the time factor but the uncertainty of whether you have been approved to sponsor your spouse in the first place.

I agree, the wait isn't so bad compared to the uncertainty of being approved. No doubt I'll be approved, but just want the assurance that everything that we submitted is okay and ready to move on to the VO.

Thanks Man!

And yes, hopefully we will all get our approval soon!
Cheers!

I am just wondering what they do for the first stage. Will they call the employer to check? Anyone has any ideas?

i would imagine they would go through all the information supplied for the sponsorship section. If you supplied an employers name they could call just to make sure you are employed. I myself have a job offer from an acquaintance and I told them to let me know if anyone from immigration called them. Figured if they called them that would mean they were actually working on my application.... :) So far no calls and my application arrived in mississuaga Nov 8 as per tracking,,, :(

No approvals lately eh? Still haven't heard a word from CIC and last I checked my application status was still set as "application received" :(

I don't think they do, also because having a job is not a requirement for a sponsor. You're required to have a plan to support your family, and know how you will organize yourself, but a job is not the only way.
They mostly rely on Option C ( for the ones in Canada) to see if you have been employed, and also to check if you're on welfare... Normally the sponsorship part is pretty simple: welfare check, yes or no, criminal background check (yes or no) and see if you are eligible to sponsor your family member (not the quality of your relationship, but if you qualify as a sponsor for your family member : let's say you applied common-law, if you have only been living together for 6 months ( and not the 12 required) they will let you know already).
Good luck to all,
Sweden

Thanks for calm me down! My hubby is also all the way from Canada saying "Ommmm" to me.

Another thing, he is coming to visit me! YAY! After 8 months apart, I don't know if I still know how to kiss...
But anyway, would it be of any help if we go to the consulate while he is here?

Thanks again, people!
You are all awesome!
I love this forum!

BTW, congrats on the approval, shronak!

Everything will be ok :) don't worry! It won't help to go to the consulate while you are in Brazil. Just stay strong and positive and focus on you guys :)
We are both outland doing our visa through Sao Paulo and i hear its quite a slow process in Brazil but hopefully all goes smoothly!!!

Going to Brazil in 2 weeks can't wait need to take my mind off this!!
