Notifying CRA about change from temporary SIN to permanent?

Quick question. When my boyfriend lands how does he notify the CRA of the change in his SIN number? His old one has since expired in May. If he lands before he has to file his 2010 taxes is there some precedure to make the change or does a simple letter suffice?

You can simply call them.. They will do it over the phone.
