Not planning to apply for Spouse PR.. is it possible to apply for myself alone?

Hi All,
It would be grateful if anyone can share the thoughts on taking PR without including Wife. I am on work permit here, and applying in CEC category.
I am planning to apply for PR for myself alone in 2 weeks and planning to add my wife at a later point of time as she is carrying and its in early stage. I feel it will be difficult for her to go for medicals and all in case if my application approved.Also if a new babe born, I need to apply for PR for new babe separate right?
Thus I thought of applying myself now an if getting my application approved, then later I will apply for Spouse and kid.If some one tried this way. pls help me to know the process and formalities of the same. Any help will be appreciated.

If you don't apply for her now, then you won't be able to sponsor her at a later date. She would have to apply on her own.

If you eventually plan to sponsor her, do it now. When the time for medicals come, she can do her X-Ray's after the baby is born.

It is mandatory that your wife complete the medical as part of your application process - even if she is not accompanying you to Canada. She must pass the medical in order for your application to be approved. So the short answer is no - it is absolutely not possible to exclude your wife from your application. You can flag her as non-accompanying (not coming with you to Canada) - but she must still pass the medical, background, and security checks in order for your PR visa to be approved. If you lie in your application and don't mention your wife (say you are single rather than married) - then you will never be able to sponsor your wife later and will also be committing misrepresentation which could result in your own PR status being revoked.

Note that if your wife is pregnant, most doctors recommend that you not complete the xray portion of the medical since this could harm the unborn baby. The application cannot be approved until your wife completes the medical. This means that when the medical request comes, your wife should complete the entire medical (apart from the xray) and then you should send a letter to the visa office letting them know your wife is pregnant and you can't complete the xray. Once the baby is born, you will have to add your child to your application and have your wife complete the medical - then CIC will continue processing your application.

Just a quick doubt on adding new born babe. is it the same process like applying for a new PR?

For a new born outside Canada, you need to tell CIC about the birth. You also add the child to your application and submit these documents:
Then: Copy of - Birth Certificate, passport, IMM008 form (dependents), photos, and application fee of $150.

If within Canada, then just the birth certificate email to CPC Ottawa.
