Hi Everyone,
I recently received my Nomination confirmation from OINP - International Student stream (ISS). I am filling out the online application and had a few questions. I'd appreciate it a lot if you could help me out with your experience/knowledge:
1. As you may know under the OINP-ISS, there is no requirement to provide proof of funds apart from the Full-time job offer. Therefore, for Form IMM-0008_4e, should I just enter the current funds I have in my bank account (they are below the required funds for EE, which I'm not sure would apply to me too as a Non-EE applicant). Is that enough? I can attach a letter of explanation giving more details on proof of funds and my offer letter too.
2. I did a 4 month graduate diploma after my bachelors in Canada. Should I enter in my "highest level of education" as Post graduate - no degree? I did not apply for a study permit for this program as it was less than 6 months.
3. For IMM5669, there are a lot of overlaps, as I held sometimes 2 jobs simultaneously. And I also worked part time while I was on my study permit doing my bachelors in Canada. How do I account for the overlaps. Should I just list everything?
4. For IMM5562 - for the initial travel from my home country to Canada to study, should I just enter "4+ years" as duration, because I have been here since I came to study. I also made short trips back to my home country since then which I have added successfully in there.
5. In Fall 2026, I plan to take about a month of leave (which would likely be a unpaid leave of absence as per my employer's rules). Should I be notifying OINP? Or would that not count as an extended vacation/leave which would require a notice to OINP? This will be temporary and I will be back full time permanently.

I understand this might be a lot. But I would really appreciate the help you all can provide. Especially @Miss bee :)
Thanks everyone.

Hi @Miss bee

Last month i changed my country of residence so i send webform to IRCC and they have acknowledged also so do you think this changes is causing delays ?

i applied and check my gcms notes it says application approved with all assessments passed and completed.

Thanks
Yes if you were outland applicant , it will delay in application as they have to change visa office now where you have to send your passport for stamping.

Regarding IMM 0008 – funds, under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program International Student Stream, settlement funds are not assessed the same way as Express Entry. Your eligibility is based on a valid full-time, permanent job offer meeting wage and employment criteria. On IMM 0008, you should simply enter the actual amount of funds currently available to you in your bank account. There is no need to meet Express Entry proof of funds thresholds because you are applying through the Non-EE PNP stream. You may attach a short Letter of Explanation stating that proof of funds is not a requirement under OINP-ISS and that you are currently employed full time under a qualifying job offer. That is sufficient.

For your education question, if you completed a 4-month graduate diploma after your bachelor’s degree, you should list it in your education history section with accurate dates. For “highest level of education,” if your bachelor’s is your highest completed credential leading to a degree, then you may select “Bachelor’s degree.” A short graduate diploma (less than 6 months) that does not grant a degree typically does not replace your bachelor’s as your highest credential. Even though you did not need a study permit because it was under six months, you should still declare it in your education history to avoid gaps or misrepresentation.

For IMM5669 (Schedule A – Background/Declaration), you must list all activities with no gaps, even if they overlap. IRCC understands that people can hold two jobs at the same time or work part-time while studying. You should list each activity separately with the correct dates. Overlapping dates are completely acceptable. The key rule is: no gaps in time. If you were studying and working part time, list both entries covering the same period. Transparency is more important than avoiding overlaps.

For IMM5562 (Travel History), you should not write “4+ years” as one continuous duration for your stay in Canada. IRCC wants specific entries. Your initial entry to Canada should have a start date, but since you are still in Canada, you can list it from the date of arrival until “Present.” Then, separately list each short trip outside Canada with exact departure and return dates. They want precise travel movements, not generalized durations.

Regarding your planned one-month unpaid leave in Fall 2026, since it is temporary and you will return to the same full-time permanent position, it generally would not affect your nomination. OINP mainly requires notification if there is a change in employment status such as termination, reduction to part-time, wage reduction below the approved threshold, or employer withdrawal of the job offer. A short unpaid leave that complies with company policy and does not end your permanent employment relationship usually does not require notification. However, ensure your employer still confirms you are employed full time on paper and that the job offer remains valid if IRCC conducts employment verification.

Overall, your situation sounds straightforward and well within normal parameters for Non-EE OINP applicants. If you’d like, I can also give you a quick checklist to avoid common mistakes in paper-based PNP PR applications — especially for Schedule A and travel history, since those are the most common delay points.

Hi @Miss bee thank you so much. And, yes I'd really appreciate the checklist.

Hello,

I have a question regarding the impact that a pending TRV application may have on a PR application. I submitted my inland TRV application in January 2025, and it has been stuck in the security verification stage ever since. I contacted my MP’s office, but the only update they were able to provide was that the application is delayed due to ongoing security screening. Everything else has been completed. I also submitted a second TRV application in December 2025, but IRCC withdrew it in mid‑February. In their letter, they stated that I must wait for the first application to be processed.

My family also submitted an inland non‑Express Entry PNP application last year and recently received AOR. I am a spouse of the main applicant. I am now concerned that because the security screening for my TRV is still pending, my PR application may also be delayed. Does anyone know whether TRV and PR security screenings are processed separately, or if security screening is a single shared process? To reiterate, can only one security assessment be active at a time, with the second application forced to wait until the first one is completed?

There won't be any delay in Non express entry application due to pending TRV application. They both are different applications and processed by different departments and different visa offices and officers .
