Hi All,

I have a total experience of 10 Years. This is the second time i am working in Canada, albeit on a different NOC code. While creating profile, I am entering the following in my work history:

Jun'07-Jun'11 - 2174 - India
Jul'11-Sep'12 - 2174 - Canada (my previous Visa was on NOC 2174)
Oct'12-Oct'16 - 2174 - India
Nov'16-Till date - 2171 - Canada (my current visa is on NOC 2171).

As soon as i submit my profile, it rejects stating 'Profile ineligible'. I want to apply under NOC 2171, as i will be continuing my work and it will form basis of experience under CEC. Should i wait for 1 year? Also, someone told me that for CEC even though you are working in Canada and are about to complete a year, you should show atleast 3 Yrs. exp. in the NOC code you are applying under.

Please advise and help.

Thanks,
Manish.

Your "primary occupation" does not need to be your current occupation. However, you must have one full year of experience in the NOC that you select as your primary occupation.

If you change it to 2174, your profile should become eligible (unless there are other errors). Or you could wait until November.

Thank You Jes for the reply.
My only concern with using NOC# 2174 is that my Canadian experience on it is old and since i am continuing my current work on NOC# 2171, i can continue building on it. I would wait for Oct-end before submitting my application. But then why would CIC reject the the application stating 'Profile Ineligible'? It should state that points are not enough, but should still accept the submission. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Your profile is not eligible, not because of points, but because you have not met the eligibility criteria of any of the programs (FSW, CEC, FST). You have to have at least one year of experience in your "primary occupation" for all programs. If you do not, you are "not eligible."

If you changed it to 2174, you would not be eligible under CEC, but you would (likely) be eligible under FSW. If you want to wait until November and use 2171, you would be elgible under both CEC and FSW (if you got an invitation, it would be for CEC by default).

Thanks Jos for clearing it up!
I thought i could submit now and it would update the points as soon as i would complete 1 year. I started my work on 31-Oct-16, would i be able to submit my profile on 01-Nov-17?
