Hello All,

Could anyone help me decipher this NOC code

Under whick Category and Skill Type does is fall?

I have worked as Kitcken Helper for 2 months in last 3 years, Do I have to show this in my PR application under CEC?

Looking for clarification from esteemed contributors.

Sorry. I believe NOC 6711 is skills level D which is not eligible for CEC. The NOC needs to fall into skill set 0, A or B.

You may be eligible for PNP but I don't know too much about this program.

Hey,

NOC 6711 is Skilled Level D, you can't apply for CEC if your job is under this NOC code. If you want to apply for CEC while having work experiences in the food industry, you would have to be either a cook (NOC 6322), a chef (NOC 6321), or store manager/supervisor (NOC 0631 or NOC 6311).

You would need to work full-time for at least 12 months to be eligible for CEC.

Good Luck!

Assuming this is in addition to the required skilled work experience and you qualify, then, yes, you would have to show this on your application. It won't help you, it won't hurt you. But you still need to list it on the application.

Hey just a quick question, you mean required skilled work experience do you mean the NOC requirements? I've been a linecook for around 20 months now here in Canada and it's on the skilled jobs list, however NOC requirments require years of resturant work or culinary school. I have neither and only got given this job due to the fact I had summers worth experience of working in a kitchen in my home country. Would I still qualify? :-[

Thanks everyone for clarification. I have to add that I am already qualified under CEC because of my other Work experience which accounts for almost 1.5 yrs.

So I will just be mentioning the kitchen helpers experience. I am assuming since kitchen helpers job is not under the CEC I should not be getting and Experience letter from this employer.

If the work experience is in Canada and it's within the last 3 years, you are asked to submit a work reference letter and have it listed on your application despite it's not part of your 1-yr of full time work.

But since the two months won't be counted towards your 1-yr of full-time work, it shouldn't be that big of a deal if you can't get that letter. Just write a cover letter explaining why you weren't able to provide one ( you could say your employer doesn't give out letters for work experience less than 3 months) and make sure to provide a copy of your T4 for the 2-months as well!

If you are able to provide a work reference letter for the 2 months, it would be better of course.

Good Luck

Hi,

CIC request reference letters for all work experience gained in Canada over the last three years - not just the experience you are using to claim.

As the other user has mentioned, if the employer will not provide you with reference letter mentioning your duties and responsibilities, then you should provide a cover letter. However, at bear minimum you should provide the record of employment which I believe you can get from service Canada, if you do not already have it.

Hope this helps!

No, I mean the CEC program requirements.

CIC does not consider the education/experience requirements that are identified with NOC, only the job duties/responsibilities (unless it is a regulated occupation).

Humm, Thanks Jhonny, I will approach the employer and try getting the experience letter, if not I will simply write a cover letter explaining the facts and attach the T4 slip.
