Hello. My situation is that i sent my application in july 2013. We passed the first stage approval. Our VO processing time is 14 months. My lawyer told us that we should not send pictures..we have to wait till they ask for. Now, I understand that this is a big mistake. What can i do now? shall i wait till they ask or send them pictures to the embassy with my file number on the envelope? can u help me pls

I would send the pictures to the embassy with the file number ASAP - don't wait until you're asked. Also, fire your lawyer immediately.

I wonder why any lawyer will suggest that . As unprofessional as my wife and I were we knew straight away that pictures are essential to proving your relastionship . Maybe you should get some pictures together and send them to the vo if you know your file number etc , they can match them to your applications. Wedding , engagements hooneymoon etc .

The more the better. I think mail is a good option, as We are not sure if they look at emails, and usually a lot of photos will exceed their max upload size.

Since you have a lawyer, it is always advisable to inform him/her of your intentions and have an agreement on it. Going behind the lawyer's back could lead to termination of representation, because they may be caught unawares. Also, you do not want to send anything which the lawyer has not verified first.

My approach in such a situation would be to first look at your country specific guidelines/checklists, etc and bring to the lawyer's attention. Ask his/her opinion but you can also say you believe it should be sent along with additional relationship proof. Let them vet the photos and other evidence and ensure they send it to the visa office(ask for tracking number). If you feel comfortable, express(very nicely ofcourse) that you feel disappointed that these were not done from the outset as you retained him/her trusting their legal opinion and their expertise. Reassure him/her that despite this "error", you appreciate his/help and still trust their expertise(even if you have a few doubts... lol... you are relying on him/her and you want them 'happy' even if you think they are not that great. lol) Then ask what can be done in the form of some kind of compensation - it could be a discount on your legal fees, or no payment for him having to vet this evidence and send out.

For future reference, it's important to read and do your best to understand the guide/checklists/rules yourself even if you have a lawyer. Lawyers are afterall human and can make mistakes too even when they mean well.

Not a good idea to publicly name the lawyer(liability issues). Perhaps ask in private message.

If the OP still trust that lawyer he/she is a fool. The "lawyer" is nothing more than a scam artist. Sure, the application is confusing in places, but one thing it is absolutely not confusing about is whether or not to include photos. Its impossible for a competant lawyer to make that mistake. Period.

Sounds to me like you are being taken for a ride. A sure way for your lawyer to extend their services once your application is red flagged. I totally agree that lawyers, like anyone else can make mistake, but this one is a MAJOR mistake. Any competent applicant filling the forms themselves would not have missed this essential part of including photos in the application, let alone a lawyer.

Don’t wait! You should immediately put together a letter and send in the pictures of your wedding, engagements honeymoon etc. to the visa office along with your file number. We have smart people working at the CIC office, they can easily match new document to your applications. It’s an honest mistake by your lawyer, CIC would totally understand.
