To be successful in Canada depends on the individual and not on someone esle`s success. You will have to know what you want and go for it. It is not easy to get a job now, nor will employers give preference to new immigrant, but you must fight for what you want to be successful. Never think that any job is to downgraded for you, because that is one big mistake and alway try to make your own network.
