NIIT certificate WES evaluation

I already have a 4 year bachelors degree evaluated by WES.

In order to increase CRS points, I was planning to do a 4-6 months analytics certificate course from NIIT (weekend in person course).

Will I be able to claim extra points in EE (under 2 or more certificates/degrees/diplomas) ?

Please help!

I am not sure though, But WES doesn't evaluate trade certificate. A certificate from NIIT is more or less similar to trade certificate (like that from ITI). It may not be accepted by WES.

Anyone, Please correct me if I am wrong.

Well, when using the WES Degree Equivalency Tool to find out whether your diploma is comparable to a completed Canadian Education Credential it only lets you choose between Bachelors, Masters and Doctorates so I'm thinking that a program that is less than a year long might not be enough.

I think the difference between NIIT and ITI is that ITI gives us a trades certificate like plumber/mechanic/electrician etc. whereas NIIT gives diplomas and certificates in IT.

I checked the WES equivalency tool, but the option to evaluate "Certificate" is not there.

As per CIC, 2 or more "degrees/diplomas/CERTIFICATES" fetch us additional points.

So I guess "Certificates" should fetch us points; Just Not sure if NIIT Certificates are evaluated by WES ?!

Anyone having certificate from NIIT or similar institute from India ?

I don't see any diploma option either in degree equivalency tool. However, even if they accept diploma, I don't think they will accept NIIT as an autonomous body providing diplomas and certificates to students. I am not sure if NIIT courses are seven approved by AICTE.. So, practically not much chance to get CRS points out of any course attended at NIIT.

I tried to have my qualifications evaluated by WES in 2015 for (Diploma in Software Eng.) NOC 2171 and they returned my application citing "The study you submitted for assessment by WES is an occupational or trade qualification which is not eligible for evaluation by WES. Therefore we are cancelling your application."

They sent the refund. My diploma is from NIIT.

I am also thinking of going through WES assessment of my GNIIT course. Did you ask NIIT to send sealed envelope to WES?

So what is the outcome? Is NIIT certificate eligible for getting points in 2 or more degree certificates? NIIT is accredited to UGC. So even I feel that the certification should be valid?

Did anyone find what it is like?

Hi guys,

As you guys were saying before NIIT certificate is illegible to be evaluated by WES. How about this case. I studied 2 years in NIIT, then continued to study and graduated in bachelor degree of computer science for 1 year later on as that university accepted my NIIT. Does WES consider my case or not?

I did my Diploma in IT from NIIT in 2004. NIIT had a tie-up with Karnataka State Open University wherein students completing 1 year Diploma from NIIT got lateral entry into Karnataka State Open University's (KSOU) B.Sc (IT) programme in 3rd semester. There were in total 6 semesters in B.Sc (IT) course.

Since I joined KSOU in 3rd semester and WES doesn't assess qualifications from NIIT, will my B.Sc (IT) degree look like a 2 year degree course? I have a degree from KSOU stating that I have completed the course from the University but I only have mark sheets for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th semester.

I further pursued and finished MBA from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK in 2012.

Will really appreciate your responses towards my question (in bold) above.

WES does not assess NIIT credentials. Even I am struggling getting mine assessed. However, there are other institutions who "might" assess. So far i have not found any, I am trying to look for them, will share if find it.

If any PG diploma from institutes like NIIT are not evaluated, then can I finish an online Master's degree in Data Analytics in 6 months? Will that be accepted by WES?
Or any PG Diploma on Cloud computing for 6 months (Accredited to Stuart school of Business, Illinois Institute of Technology) is accepted?
Please help....!!!

NIIT is an independent private institute which provides certificate level training/ education which is not strictly speaking a govt. recognized school or a college. For e.g. 10+2 that we do in India through our schools are either a CBSE or ISCE is through a govt. approved education board which WES can assess but if I am 6 sigma certified or a black belt by my organization, WES cannot assess that. So basis my experience, my understanding is that WES recognises credentials from institutes which are been gained from proper institutions which are accredited to a country's govt. education body.

So, similarly as long as your MBA is from one of these institutes, they should be able to accept and basis that they will evaluate what a 6 months online MBA is worth in Canadian standards. When you open a request with them, your institute/college/school should appear in the drop down. If not then that would mean WES would not be able to assess and credentials from that body.
