First of all congrats to all those who have landed safely in Toronto area. I am landing in Toronto on 15 March InshaAllah. Based on my research I think "Chatr" is the best mobile network to choose in Canada economically at least according to my needs.

6) No contract
7) $10 bonus for first 8 months if you pay by credit card


Above all It will work in basement too because they use "Rogers Network" which is quite strong and any GSM phone with 850/1900 mHZ frequency and UNLOCKED will work.

Coverage is also good. It covers 6 big cities like Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver

I don't have enough information on mobile network in Canada. Just to add more to you information, I am pasting a post from 'qorax'.

1. Cellphone: It's always advisable to go with a 'non-contract' provider. That said, as a newcomer we need to also find the cheapest, in that case we have only 2 choices: WINDmobile or Mobilicity. Check their sites.

2. Homephone & Internet: As with cellphones, internet too is a pricey proposition here. Check the link below, that is the best option, as it gives u an International calling homephone & Hi-Speed Internet - both together @ the "internet only price" of Rogers/Bell.

Hi!

That means "chatr Zone" exist in 6 big cities and the part of provinces where they are. If you remain in these 6 cities you will be charged normal price plan rates as advertised by chatr but if you move out of chatr zone you will be charged extra. I guess these 6 big cities are quiet enough for one. Please check this link.

1) There is no contract with chatr.

2) Mobilicity is expensive compared to chatr. Wind is cheaper than chatr but wind won't work in basements while chatr will.
