Just to add if you arrive at the POE with more than 10000 CDN or equivalent in any currency you must declare to CBSA. There is no limit how much you can bring in but if you do not declare you may have nothing left to pay into the bank if in worst case the cash is confiscated.

Because I was thinking they might ask proof of the source from foreign country

When declaring it at Customs, it's a good idea to have a paper trail to show CBSA. if you are not able to do that, wire the money instead.
