Hi All,

I am working in Montreal for last 2 years and have been offered job in Vancouver. Employer will go through Job Advertisement, LMO/LMIA and work permit issuance procedure.
Anyone know the timeline requirement/estimates for each of these steps
- I think 4 weeks are job advertisement requirement
- How much time it takes to get LMIA for Class A category job
- How much time it will take to get work permit after LMIA is approved.
- Can i continue to legally work with my current employer once LMIA has been issued but i have not obtained new work permit. i.e. Can i use this duration to serve as notice period for current employer.

-- thanks

- I think 4 weeks are job advertisement requirement - True (But, if your employer waits for another two weeks, it will be even better. But legally, 4 weeks is enough.)
- How much time it takes to get LMIA for Class A category job. (Debatable! Some people it is fast for High skilled jobs. My spouse got in 10 weeks, NOC A)
- How much time it will take to get work permit after LMIA is approved. (From Canada, I think it is 15 to 20 working days)
- Can i continue to legally work with my current employer once LMIA has been issued but i have not obtained new work permit. i.e. Can i use this duration to serve as notice period for current employer. Depends, If your old work permit (OLD employer) is still valid you can continue working although LMIA is approved for your new employer. Once you are issued New WP, you should not be working for OLDER employer I guess. But if your old work permit validity expires, before you get the newer one, you should not work.
