New Study Permit or Study Permit Extension?

Hello!

I recently graduated from a university but due to some problems getting a PGWP, I decided going back to school for a 16 months program in fall would be the best option. I'm applying for a new school for a diploma program, and my question is do i need to apply for a new study permit due to me graduating and changing of schools & program, or is it okay to just apply for a study permit extension? (My current one expires July 31st)

No I didn't, I decided to not take the big risk of getting refused and go back for school for 16 months.
