Thanks for reply.

I landed @ may-10 and have not received PR card yet.
So is there any connection between health card & PR card?
Or is there something in my PR, thats why they issue for 3 year valid card.
Sorry for my stupid question. :)

Thanks.

No - there is no connection between the PR card and the health card.

I have been told that i can use that "transcation record" paper untill i get CARD.
So i think it started immediatedly. No waiting period.

Bro, I think maybe the rule is 3 months but Service Ontario workers give it to you anyways.

I have done some thinking and came to this conclusion: My husband and I received our OHIP's separately with 2 different officers at Service Ontario. Mine was a nice young lady who said "this is strange" during our conversation and called for her manager, her manager came in and looked at my CoPR and said "that's fine, that will do" and the young lady kept fixing some stuff for 10 minutes and even asked me to sit down. When I was called again she apologized and said give me your old card and issued me a piece of paper that was valid right away and she said until I receive my new OHIP card I can use that sheet of paper... So whatever the rule is, I got it, my husband got it... A few other ppl on this forum got it... I think it all depends on the officer and how they are willing to help. Are you from Toronto? Go to Yonge and College Service of Ontario branch where I think the most knowledgeable ppl work and just get it.

Mine is valid until 2020 02 01 which is my birthday. They issued it for 5.5 years since my birthday already occurred this year... It is strange that you were only issued an OHIP valid for 3 years, but there is nothing to worry about, you can just go to Service Ontario and ask them to review it... Your are a PR now, so you automatically are eligible for it as long as you reside in Ontario.

I got my health card valid for 4 years instead of 5. I applied for bowp when my PR application was in process and got the health card coverage until April 2015. After landing, I went to renew my health card and got coverage right away, no waiting period. I guess that's why I only got 4 years.

Mine is 3 years too, and i think it has connection to my driving license which will be expired by same date.
check your driving license clue might be there.

Hi
That seems little logical.

Health card expires in may-2017
Passport expires in Feb-2017
Driving license expires in Oct-2017.

Thanks.
