Under the new application kit it says:

"Please write your name and date of birth on the back of each photo and provide a brief description of the context on the back of each photograph"

1. we are putting the photos on Word documents. Can we write the description and context under the photos instead of on the back?

2. Whose name and date of birth goes on the description?

3. Can anybody provide example of how you wrote the descriptions and context?

I completed the old packs (June 2016). But when I did it, they wanted photos etc. as well. I put mine into a Word document, with two photos per page with captions under each photo. Then, in the 'header' of each page in the Word document I entered the IMM form number, the name and date of birth - so each page of the photo appendix had it on, in the footer I added the 'page x of y'. Worked for me.

I guess that the requirement for the date of birth and name on the back of every photograph is because IF you send in loose glossy photos, each photo is loose (and therefore in effect it's own 'page'), so having it on each photo helps if some fall out of the file! As to who's name and address, who is being asked to complete the form - the sponsor or the principal applicant? Whoever is completing it, then it should be them I suggest.

A typical description I used was

'Myself and my husband on holiday on the Rialto Bridge in Venice in March 2014',
or

'Myself and my husband with his sister and her husband at Battery Park in New York while visiting to stay with them on holiday in June 2011' etc.

ALL of the photos I sent were of course of the two of us together, either JUST the two of us, or both of us with others (who I would identify) and usually with a recognisable landmark in the background.
