I applayed for PR trough CEC and I have a question about this topic.
I did both exams (IELTS and CELPIP) and I sent both to the immigration.
Consider that my marks are much better with CELPIP rather than IELTS,
Which one they will consider valid? The better one, the lower one, or they'll
do an overall?
The short answer is: we don't really know. This is contrary to the instructions and there's nothing in the manuals, etc, about it.

They won't 'combine' the two sets of results. My guess is they'll use the newest one, as this is the best indication of what your language skills currently are.

They could just return the application package as incomplete, but I think they would rather find a way to accept it as-is.

Anyway CELPIP seems much easier than IELTS wich scored me 5.5 in speaking
and CELPIP 5 (the higher)......

Thank you and good luck everybody!!
If you did better in CELPIP, why didn't just send that one?

One of my friend got CELPIP with 5L in all the exams in last October. Now he is planning to apply PR and he is afraid whether he needs to take new CELPIP exam because of the new rule which came to effect on 1st of April.

Suggestion required.

I have the same question.

I did my test in January 2014, and I'm not sure if it's still valid if I submit my application now.

I called a couple lawyers and consultants, and their answers are that if should be accepted, since there are two different grading systems on the webpage, but when I called CIC call center, the agent told me that they won't accept the old result, and I have to take the new one.

Not sure who should I listen to.

Anyone has experience in this?

Thank you!

^ Ask in the April and/or May threads. There must be some people in there who submitted CELPIP results obtained prior to April 1, and have received their AORs.

^ Oh, I see you already did exactly that :) And someone confirmed that they received their AOR. And language requirements is one of the things they check before sending AORs.

Thank you, LPS!

In my opinion, it only makes sense that they accept the old and new results. For people who submit their application in early April, and if the took the CELPIP test, they have to submit the old score.

It just really concerns me when it says on the website: " After April 1, 2014, CELPIP G will not be used anymore". I guess that just means that the exam itself won't be administered anymore?

Thanks very much!

So, how much would be my CLB level and how many points would i get for my language efficiency?

What is the test like, is it hard?
Hey James, for me It depends on your efficiency to understand English. It's like you are watching a movie, how well do you understand that movie and if you're asked to summarize it you can explain it understandably :)

One thing for sure is hard :p the noise from other tester, you can hear them typing on their keyboard for the Writing and mumbling for the Speaking

But for me CELPIP is simply great because you can finish it in just 3hrs not like IELTS.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

Scroll down to where it says "Choose a Program," click on CEC and you'll see the CLB chart.

celpip general s somehow easy than ielts, as i appeared both exam.
It is easy , only three hours, redult is faster than IELTS, booking days are convenient on Saturday, less students in one test, and off course cost effective.
