Lack of time forced me to go with CELPIP and also as I said they wont refund the money unless your total band changes..so no point in wasting time and money...so went with faster route!

thx for this ! anyone tried CELPIP?

yes, i know somany .

BTW, 3 of my collegues who were victimized by IELTS, got same 5H and 5L in all areas like me..when they took CELPIP

So its much promising!

My old IELTS expired so I had to take something quick for sending my PR application and so CELPIP helped me to get it fast. I only drawback I felt with CELPIP was during speaking I felt distracted bcoz of the exam hall where everyone was speaking around the same time. Other than that it was quite simple and easy to get a date early.

This is why they recommend you leave your headphones on.

Hello,

I am also writing for CELPIP, I bought their online course to know how exactly the exam goes and it is very useful too.
To get 4L in all sections you need..

In Listening you need to get 38 out of 45.
In Reading you need to get 31 out of 35.
In speaking and writing they are verifying manually, so it depends on how well you speaking and writing ( typing :)) on the exam.

Share your experience if you have given the exam.

Very interesting stuff!
If I want to get CLB level 9 or higher (max points in FSW etc), how many questions do I need answered correctly in each chapter?

Regardless of the answer on the above, I believe my Reading, Writing skills are very good with Listening probably not far from that (especially with headphones, should be near 100%), which leaves writing as the only unknown variable - how do they evaluate the Writing part? How do I get CLB 9 equivalent on that as well?

I also noted some people here said they've got grades like 5H, 5L, while another "table" post says maximum is 5.. this part is not clear to me, how is the system ranked? using CLB? or those numbers up to 5?

Thanks!

EDIT: One more important question:
What keyboards are used at the test centers? are they standard IBM-101? As I type really fast and am used to a particular keyboard layout, ideally I'd prefer to bring my own keyboard to the exam :)

CIC assesses language proficiency by CLB level. Under the old scoring system for CELPIP - 5H, 5L, etc - it was necessary to convert these scores to the equivalent CLB level. With the introduction of the new CELPIP scoring system (April 1) each score is identical to its CLB equivalent, so no conversion is necessary.

It's all explained at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/language-testing.asp

LOL. They are standard keyboards. 8) You are only allowed to bring what is in the instructions.

One of my friend got CELPIP with 5L in all the exams in last October. Now he is planning to apply PR and he is afraid whether he needs to take new CELPIP exam because of the new rule which came to effect on 1st of April.

Suggestion required.

Your friend does not need a new exam. The change announced on 1 April does not invalidate old results. Anyone who takes the exam from 1 April onward does need to take the new version (which I assume is the only version on offer anyway).

CELPIP is valid for 2 years. It doesn't matter if the score has changed or not. The test he took is valid.

Hello Everyone !!!

My citizenship application is returned to me yesterday because of photo issue …. I will send my application again and but my question is if I need to take CELPIP GENERAL LS test again ???? I took it on March 2014 and I remember that they changed the test little bit after April 1 2014….. My results still valid ??? Cuz I know that when I send my application again they will consider as new application …. Plz help if you know something about it >>??? Thank you all

I assume you meant the CELPIP "General" test. The "General LS" test (listening and speaking only) is not accepted.

Yes, you can re-use your results while they are less than two years old.

Ho guys,
I applayed for PR trough CEC and I have a question about this topic.
I did both exams (IELTS and CELPIP) and I sent both to the immigration.
Consider that my marks are much better with CELPIP rather than IELTS,
Which one they will consider valid? The better one, the lower one, or they'll
do an overall?

Anyway CELPIP seems much easier than IELTS wich scored me 5.5 in speaking
and CELPIP 5 (the higher)......

Thank you and good luck everybody!!

I dont know the answer to your question, but I am really curious, for what reason have you sent them both of your results?
