new job, reference letter and risk future outlook?

Good morning everyone,

I am about to change roles, if it happen it will be by mid February. Now, I plan to apply for the visa in May...

Should I get a reference letter from the new role? (it is not related to my NOC by the way) And if I do, will CIC come knocking at their door?

I could certainly get a reference letter without ever mentioning CIC as it is a personal (private) goal to get my VISA, however, if they call the company then I will be in a bad position.

Second question...

I am reading the NOC and the "instruction guide" found in the package anyway, but it would be cool to get some pointers from someone with more experience. (I read in a few posts something about a "General Application guide")
