New job, not claiming points for- do I have to get a letter of ref?

I have a letter of reference from my past employer which gives me the 5+ years of foreign experience.

As of last week I started a new job which I obviously cannot ask for a letter of reference for. I'm also not claiming points for this job. CIC is asking for me to upload a letter of reference (probably because I added it to work experience?).

My thoughts are I will move the new job to the activities section rather than employment history, since I don't need those points & no letter would be required.

Would this suffice?

That is completely fine. Make sure you mention the job in personal history, then in the LOE mention that you have not provided any reference letter for this job BECAUSE you are not claiming any CRS points for it, and it doesn't affect your eligibility.
