I read the following Proposed Changes to the Federal Skilled Worker Program last year. I am not sure but I think they will implement these changes this year.

Overview: Federal Skilled Worker Points Grid

Selection based on objective factors: Current System Maximum points: Proposed System Maximum points:
Education (1) 25 25

Language 24 28

Work Experience 21 15

Age (2) 10 12

Arranged Employment 10 10

Adaptability 10 10

Total: 100 100

1. Education: Proposed changes will reduce the number of years (from 12 to 10) of schooling required to earn full points for a post-secondary vocational, technical or trades credential. This change will give tradespersons an additional seven points on the grid.

2. Age: Under the current points grid, maximum points are accorded up to age 49; with changes, maximum points would be accorded to age 35, with diminishing points accorded thereafter.
