Hello!!

I've been planning to visit Canada from the US as a digital nomad, entering as a visitor and requesting a Visitor Record (then hoping to extend, but prepared to leave after the initial period if denied). However, the restrictions were recently tightened and I'm concerned that I face a high chance of refusal at the border.
  • I can prove that 100% of my clients are US-based via contracts, financial documents, etc. My income is more than enough to support myself.
  • I am planning to buy a ticket back to the US dated 6 months later to show my willingness to depart if that's all the time I get.
However, I am concerned about:
  • Proving income beyond my contracts. My liquidity will be diminished getting myself there, renting a place to stay, etc.
  • A 12-month lease being a red flag. Instead of showing stability, this might be highly scrutinized under the new rules. I just submitted a lease application yesterday.
  • Moving my belongings. If I have to leave I am planning to stay on the east coast of the US near the border (I'm coming from the west coast); however, this now seems like something that might be flagged. I'll also be travelling with my cat.
Any and all thoughts welcomed. I'm just looking for opinions as my brain is mush right now. I'm about six weeks from my move date and just learned of the changes—I was planning all of this prior to the changes, so it's thrown me quite a bit.

Many thanks in advance!!!

Warm Regards,
Charlene

Are you a US citizen? If so you aren't moving to Canada. You can stay and work remotely for up to 6 months. It is not meant to get a lease, move your stuff, live here and work. You are essentially moving to Canada and that is not the intent of being a digital nomad. It is to come, travel and allow you to work for a few months.
