Her multiple entry visitor visa hasn't expired. It is valid till Oct 2016. But she has been in Canada since Oct 2015. Isn't there a rule she can only stay in Canada for 6 months at a time and then has to exit the country and re-enter again?

Please advise URGENTLY since we are planning on going to Niagara Falls today.
In single go she can live just for 6 months max, in case she wants to stay more she has to apply for extension.

Now if without extension she is living with you then seriously she violated the law (asuming 6 months are passed). Consult with any lawyer. you may be in serious problem and also don't goto US border, it will not extend her stay.

Does she has US visa? even in case she is having, the rule is not to extend visitor visa extension :)

Her 6 months are not up yet. Her 6 months will be up in April.

But we do not have 30 days to apply for extension. Do you think they will still grant the visa?

Are you saying that CIC doesn't grant visa extensions?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=473&top=16

If you have a single-entry visa this allows you to enter Canada once. If you leave Canada during your authorized stay, you must get a new visitor visa to re-enter Canada, unless you visit the United States or St. Pierre and Miquelon. If you visit those places, you can return to Canada without a new visa, as long as you:

although they mentioned single entry, but going to US and coming back even you have multiple entry, will not extend your stay. While coming back to Canada CBSA is not going to stamp on her passport again.

Thank you sooo so much for the information PGU.

My wife has a multiple entry visa valid till Oct 2016. She has been living with me in Canada since Oct 2015 and her 6 months will be up in April. I am going to apply for an extension, but I do not have 30 days.

So worst case scenario, if CIC rejects my extension request, can my wife leave for India for a period of 2 weeks and return back again on the same multiple entry visa without having to apply for an extension since her "clock" will be reset to zero.

Thanks

Jai Shri Ram!
If your wife has a visa for US, you can go to US for a day or two and then re-enter canada. This will restart your wife's 6 month entry.

Hi, no.. it will not.. I went to US twice with my wife.. and while coming back CBSA didn't stamped her passport saying your stay is still valid.
