Thank you for all your help so far guys!

One more question:

I am currently in Toronto and getting married in New Delhi in November.
I will come back to Toronto in January and apply for my husbands pr...(we've known each other for 8 solid years)

I am Hindu and he is Christian.
We are getting married in the Church of North India(Catholic wedding)-the church asked me to provide and affidavit stating I am hindu and am marrying by Christian rights out of my free will.
We will also be having a small temple ceremony the day before church ceremony.

The church despite our religions will issue a marriage cert.(since I provided the affidavit)
My in-laws have not asked me to convert-maybe I will later-maybe I won't

Does it matter if I convert?
Will converting be better for application purposes?
Do they care if we are of different religions and I am not converting after marriage?

Any help on this issue will be appreciated! :)

Congrats Appievee. I dont think religion will make your application process faster. They just want to know if it is a legitimate marriage. The church will give you a certificate but CIC does not care about that. Make sure you get marriage certificate from the town/village where you are getting married. I had to do this as well. when you apply make sure its a complete application. Include pictures, ticket information, Meals/hotel stays etc..

Hope this helps and Congrats.

Thanks abrahamr for your reply!

I will be attaching all the extra necessary info

So if I understand correctly, I will have to register the wedding separately under special marriage act from the govt.(despite having the church cert.)?

Yes, it has to be a registered marriage certificate.

do you have your UCI number and File number? i was told the Agent on CIC phone will hand it out to you.

if you have those you can check online...ECAS..

If that is the case i dont think you have to worry about AOR or SA...i think..

yup my husband took application number from cic when he called. but he called in today and requested to resend the email containing aor.
