Hi Subaru,
To avoid all the hassle in future, you need to get your wife’s name changed legally in the province where you reside.
After , that you need apply for new PR card with all the supporting documents .Once you receive a new PR card with the changed last name , you can apply for all other documents.

I have a question guys,


As we did not get my wife's last name changed on her passport because we did not want to delay the whole process of applying, but we want her last name changed after she lands here.
I understand that Immigration will just send the PR card with the information they collect from passport and immigration documents at the time of landing so what is the process of changing her last name on her PR card and to have changed last name on all her IDs and canadian issued documents thereafter?
I just want to get it right the first time not going back to everyone after couple months to get her last name changed. Please share your experience and suggesstions.

As per recent history, we got the visas back with in 3 -5 days after partial address update on ECAS.

So, it means your visa is already on the way. Congratulations !!!

Hello Everyone,
I have a question, When we log into my spouses ECAS , it shows her Address in India and a partial address for Toronto.
Other than that we don't see “In Process” anywhere but on the ECAS page it sill shows “Application Received”.
Is this the normal process?
Please answer.

CIC is really testing ppls patience. We are in the freakin 2012 things ought to be instant! Hire more staff...Atleast a husband wife needs to be together asap.

Is Anyone working in IT here?? I am very much tensed about finding a job there in Canada.. I will be first going on H1 to US then will enter Canada from there after getting the PR.. :-X
Dont know much about IT jobs in GTA(Toronto Area)..

I am into US staffing and recruitment. IT jobs are more in USA as compare to Canada btw may i knw your skill set.?

CIC's working standards have been really really pathetic over 8 months. Too many applicants, is their excuse. Oh well, they are getting paid to process and manage the processing system so everything gets done on time. In all this, they are extremely lazy about updating ECAS. Or even providing proper information to the applicants.
March 6th eh? Thats insane. I am April 5th. And I can only imagine what you must be going through. Everyday a new hope comes and by the time I hit the bed, it vanishes.

My 'partial address' was also changed on 14th Sep, does it mean my visa is also on iits way???

Looks like people are getting their passport back before the update on ECAS.

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to inform all the members of this forum that I will no longer be maintaining the spreadsheet. I have passed on the responsibility to one of the forum members called 'smvi'. She would be maintaining the spreadsheet from now on. I will still try to answer as many question as I can on this forum but I will not be visiting as frequently as I have been. That is the reason, I didn't want the spreadsheet to fall behind.

All of you guys have been really great in helping me update this spreadsheet and I hope that you would continue to do so. All the procedure remains the same.

You are right.CIC is being pathetic!! I am worried bcz my husband got call from ND vO on Aug 20th asking some questions and since there is no update at all!! They dont care to update ecas or even letting us know about the application or whatever is going on with the appljcation. My appljcation status is Application received and there is no update in ecas after the medical received. I am really losing my patience and no body is helping!!! They are getting paid but dont want to work...
