My wife got a call from ND last Thursday Aug 16th, 2012 - its been one week after that. The call was just to verify some dates and information (less than 5 mins) and went very well. there is still no update on ECAS - still "Application Received" ....I heard that ND is very bad about updating ECAS status, I am hoping that everything goes well and my wife gets the passport back in couple of weeks.

Keeping my hopes alive !!!

What question did they ask? is your case straight forward? or they are calling all the applicants?

Hi Friends,

My wife is Permanent Resident of Canada. She came to India in March last year. Since then she has visited Canada only once in March this year for few days to file my application. Since then she is with me in India. Is there any complexity in my case?

Hi Naughty,

I think that may be an issue! I read in this forum that if the sponsor is a permanent resident, then they are supposed to stay in Canada while the application is being processed, the sponsor is only allowed on "short trips" if they are a permanent resident. I think you should look into this further to avoid any potential problems. I think ASHunandal will be able to provide you more information on this issue. Wish you the best of luck.

Issue at what stage??
Currently, I have already submitted the passport...

I am not sure, but If you read some of the earlier posts in this forum, there has been discussion about the sponsor traveling outside of Canada while the application is being processed, you may be able to find some answers there.

What a co-incidence , I was on a voip call with my wife at that time, and I listened the entire conversation - the verification was about they could not find two annexures , so they asked my wife to please verify that information over the phone (ND is playing tricks here - I guess)

- Started with my name and I am the sponsor
- My wife's birth date
- Wedding Date - How many people attended the marriage
- Where we went out for our honeymoon
- Our engagement date

Ofcourse I have all the documents proof attached (wedding pics, engagement pics, reception pics, air-tickets, bills) and the lady confirmed we do have that.

so, it was pretty short call (not even 5 mins)

The lady was calm and seemed very satisfied with my wife's answers.

So, we are hopeful that my wife's passport comes back by end of this month - praying that all goes well.

Hope this helps

This is what the CIC webpage says- "you can leave and re-enter Canada while your application is being processed as long as you meet all requirements to enter Canada" So I think visiting for a short period back to India is fine. However don;t delay your stay! Why do you want complications???

@ Ashunandal- After one met the sponsorship approval, I suppose sponsor may visit India for say couple of weeks. I don;t think that will affect the process. But as you said, staying for longer period might be problematic as your address may not be valid anymore however, when you visit India, your Canadian address will still remain valid so no worries for couple of weeks I guess.

When you said- "they mentioned very clearly that PR sponsor must stay inside Canada for whole processing and im 100% sure about that." Can you site that information?? Thanks,

Hi Naughty,

Here is what I was referring to...

Hello All,

Just stumbled on this forum and nice to see that lot of folks are sharing their experience and helping each other!

I filed the application for my wife on 16th July 2012 and the courier notified that it was received my CIC-M on 17th July 2012. Please add this to the tracking sheet.

Question for you guys - what does AOR mean?

Cheers!
