I came to Canada 8 years ago, and became a protected person.
After 2 years I received my permanent residency, and now I'm a citizen.
I want to visit my grandparents, would it be troublesome if I were to go back to my country, being that I came from it as a refugee....
What would the repercussions of going back be? It won't even be for too long just a couple of weeks.

since you're a refugee that means you will be killed or sent to jail if you go back to your country. ;) ;)
question: why it took so long to get permanent residency? 2 years?

@Steaky: It's easier for me to go, money and time wise. If they were to come..applying for visas and all saving up the money. I know it would the best thing in the long term. I also have a lot of family I'd love to see.

@LifeIsOverRated: How long does it usually take?
That's how long the process took, we were told.

Thanks for replying!

I agree! You should invite them to come to Canada for a visit or meet in a third party country. Though, it depends where in the world you are a refugee from. I have some acquaintances that came to Canada as refugees from Kosovo and have gone back many times now. Let me know if you need any more help
