I did not carefully read the article the first time. This is exit control for land border crossing. This is a lot more useless than I thought.

here is another clear source from the government of Canada website, it explains that there will be exit controls for everyone leaving Canada by both land and air. Regarding people leaving Canada by air the exit information will be collected automatically from all airlines, the exit information will contain information about the passport biographical page of the traveler + time and date of departure from Canada and the country of arrival + the name of the airline and the flight number, same applies for people leaving through Land. This will make it easier for PR renewal applicants and citizenship applicants who really comply with the residency and discover people who commit residency fraud. It will be a fair system for everyone
