Hi, i was asked to do a sputum test and was able to get a negative result on both ear test and sputum culture.
I was then asked to do a repeat xrsy since Canada requires this.
Based on my repeat xrsy, the pulmonologist at St Lukes Extension office wanted me to undergo a 6 month TB treatment .
I refused the treatment for now and said that I will take my chance with the. Canadian Embassy. I am praying that they would consider my negstive culture result and allow me to enter Canada.
I am also okay with being placed under Medical Surveillance if needed just to fly asap.
I am applying for a TRV though i am married to a Canadian Citizen.
I hope there is someone out there who can enlighten me on this issue.
is there anything that i can do to help me with this scenario.

thank you so much

Generally speaking, Medical Surveillance only applies to individuals who are moving to Canada as permanent residents. IRCC doesn't apply Medical Surveillance to individuals traveling to Canada as visitors on TRVs. Visitors need to pass the medical in order for the TRV to be approved.

If you haven't done so already, I would submit a webform to IRCC to explain why you have refused the treatment requested by the doctor. Other than that, I don't think there is anything you can do but wait for an answer.

Hi, thank you so much for this info. I have a fee questions though…
Do i wait for the clinic to submit my medical records or should I go ahead and submit this webform to IRCC explaining my refusal for now to undergo the treatment.
Another question is, given the scenario I’m in, will my negative sputum culture be considered by the IRCC in allowing me entry to Canada (the result shows that I am negative of the TB virus and do not have any transmissible disease).

thanks again and i hope to get more info on this

I would submit the webform now with your explanation. I would not wait.

I have personally never seen a scenario here where someone refused the treatment but was still approved for a TRV. I think you need to be prepared for the high possibility of refusal.

Thank you Scylla…i have opted to take the chance since our primary reason and need to travel asap is that my father in law is a cancer patient and we’re afraid that we do not have the 6 months to spare.
He has stage 4 lung cancer which has now spread to his brain.
this is the first time that i will be meeting him in personand we are hoping to at least be able to spend some time with him and hope that it won’t be too late to do that.
Appreciate all the inputs you’ve provided.

Hi,
I am wondering if they permitted you to opt out the sputum culture. My parents are in the same case scenario and I want to get some insights from your experience. Thanks

OP took the sputum culture and was trying to opt out of the treatment. So it's not the same situation.

IMO you can't opt out of the sputum culture if it's requested. If they don't complete the sputum culture then they should be expecting a refusal since the medical will be incomplete.

Are they applying for a TRV?

Yes, my mom already had the 3day sputum test which had the results negative but she was instructed to wait for the sputum culture (6-8 weeks) and another repeat X ray after one month (August). I am hoping that they can visit here before I start my school in August as we already have our accommodations booked ahead.

If she has been instructed to wait for the culture and then repeat the x-ray, then I unfortunately don't think there's any chance IRCC will approve the visa earlier.

Hi, there.

I got my sputum test done since October last year. I got the negative results and then recommendation to visit a pulmonary specialist, but unlike the initial poster I was cleared of any tuberculosis or health issues. IRCC received my health file since Feb 18. I've sent multiple emails and web forms and even used an MP office to contact them. I've ordered my GCMS file too and they haven't touched my application or worked on it since February.

Sorry - I don't know what to say about that. If you've completed all of the requests test / medicals, including the visit to the pulmonary specialist, then I don't see what more you can do.

Is this for a temporary visa of some kind or for PR?

Your application may just be caught up in the delays that are impacting may others and this may have nothing to do with the medical.

It's for a study permit. I've seen PR applicants get their medicals processed in less time. It's a little bizarre if I'm being honest. Especially since there's tons of people from my country having their medicals processed in days.

Hi, my husband has the same situation. He was referred to Slec for his sputum test. However he recently re eived an email from IRCC reminding him to submit/provide a proof of completion of his medical, we checked the portal and it says there that they already received the proof. My husband is due for his test in october and repeat xray in november. WE DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF PROOF IRCC is asking from us. The panel physician should have suitted the IME form through emedical. Please advice if you encountered the same problem. Thanks!
