Hi everyone,

I have a PR card that expires in June 2013 I am 19 years old and a British citizen.

When me and my family got PR status in 2008 I was only 15 and obviously not able to move on my own as my family did not end up going out to live in Canada.

I now want to move out to my aunt and uncle who live in new Brunswick but only have just under 1 year left. I would like to know if it's possible to renew it, what are my chances etc as I was a minor and couldn't move out alone.

Any help and advice appreciated :)

As your PR card is still valid, nobody will stop you from entering Canada. If anybody asks you how long you were gone or if you meet the residency requirements, you are safe to say that you do not meet them but you were a minor and you did not leave Canada by choice when you were 15. When the time comes to renew your PR card, you can say the same thing and you have a very good chance of getting it approved or another option, you could just let your card expire and stay in Canada until you have your two years and then apply to renew because at that point you will meet the residency requirements again.
