Hello Everyone

I want to apply for FSW. My total points are as below

IELTS : 18 points (L:6.5, R:7.5, S:6, W:6)
Age: 12 points
Education : Masters: 23 points
Work experience: 5 year 5 months : Will it be 13 points only or will it be considered as 14. This is making the big difference here for me.

If I am given just 13 points my total score comes to 66, If They give me 14 points it comes down to 67 and makes me an eligible candidate to apply for FSW.

On CIC website Points are given as below, they have not mentioned the points for work experience in between 5 and 6 years

4-5 years: 13
6 or more years: 15

Kindly help on this, I want to file the application as soon as I can, and your help is needed.

I think you will be awarded 13 unless your experience is more than 6 years

Thanks for your feedback, Do you think there is any negative point if i just go ahead and apply, I am joining with one company soon in November and by the time my application is processed my experience will be more than 6 years

Any thought ??

Also, if I apply for FSW this time and appear for IELTS again and then apply for Express Entry can my applications processed simultaneously here both in FSW and Express Entry ?

Friends your helps is really required here so please give your suggestions..

Your experience is locked in at the time your application is first received by CIC - not when your application is opened and processed. You won't get credit for 6 years of work experience. No point applying without at least 67 points.

Thanks for your response Scyllla, If I appear for IELTS again do you think it will be too late... Bcoz in that case I should be able to submit my application by 1st week of december.... Kindly help

As mentioned by Senior Member, no point of applying if you are short of 67.

You definitely need to give IELTS again to secure at least 21 to 23 points.

I would advise send your application when your pre-assessed score is 69 or 70 so you lie on the safe side.

And for masters, it's 22 points unless .............

"23 points for > University-level credential at the Master’s level OR an entry-to-practice professional degree. CIC only
accepts as an entry-to-practice professional degree, those degrees issued in relation to an
occupation listed at NOC Skill level A and for which licensing by a provincial regulatory body is
required, in one of the following fields of study: Medicine, Veterinary Medicine; Dentistry; Podiatry;
Optometry; Law; Chiropractic Medicine and Pharmacy" CIC

So be careful while doing self assessment, little mistake can cause big damage.

Good luck!

Any idea on this ??

1st Stage: You submit documents to CIO and wait 3 to 4 months. Then they open you file and see application completeness. Once successful give you PER
2nd Stage: PER [Positive Eligibility Review]. Suggest your application is accepted.
3rd Stage: AOR [Acknowledgement of Receipt]. Suggest your documents have been transferred to your respective VO.
4th Stage: Medical Request [ Depending on your VO, comes after 1 to 6 months after AOR] sometimes it is delayed due to Background Check. Background check is done by VO and they involve many agencies and companies to do this on their behalf.
5th Stage: PPR [Passport Request], you are asked by your VO to submit your passport for Visa Stamping [6 to 18 months after PER depending on your VO]
6th Stage: Visa Issued
7th Stage: Dream Landing.

It is highly advised and recommended that once your receive your PER. You should update CIC/VO with your every activity by e-mail or how they ask you to do so. That is mention in the Application Package as well. If you fail to do so and if they found during that in background check, you might be in trouble.

So after you receive your PER, do update CIC/your VO that you have gotten new job in SA and everything will be good with you.

Hello mwrooney,

You have described it very well. I really appreciate your help. Thank you very much for your feedback.

Good evening guys.

How do you calculate these working experiences;

2010-2014 Cost Supervisor (4yrs), NOC 1212 intended primary NOC
2008-2010 Inventory (2yrs), NOC 1215/1524

Total working experiences: 6yrs

Will CIC give me only 13pts based from my primary NOC?
Or 15pts based from total working experiences however different NOC?

Thank you very much
