Hi

I am holding a Permanent Resident, am married and living in Canada(Toronto) since 2007 - i wish to sponsor my married brother(aged 47) and his wife - who is presently in Mumbai India.

1. As per the information for sponsoring brothers/sister etc only brothers below 18 yrs of age can be sponsored ..still is there any way to get him here.

2. Should i apply for him under the Skilled worker immigration - the total points required are 67 and he does get more than 67 points when i try the eligibility criteria for him, but i see that immigration under skilled worker category is currently stopped.

Can someone provide some pointers how to proceed with the immigration.

Thanks

I think Family Sponsorship is closed to you.
He will have to come in on a "Worker" plan.

1. You can't sponsor him through family class.

2. Yes - he can certainly apply through the skilled worker or provincial nominee class if he qualifies. He will have to apply on his own. You cannot sponsor him / apply on his behalf. You should join the Skilled Worker section of this forum for information on what changes are coming to the skilled worker application process as of May 4th.

Thanks for the quick response. But the FSWP is currently on-hold right ...?

Between the application when filled have to be mailed to Canada right ...I guess the applications now no longer have to be sent to the country of residence or citizenship i.e. India.

Right now - yes. As of May - no. Again, you should really join the discussions in the skilled worker section of the forum.
