I missed two tests, I was travelling both times.. I missed one in May 1, because I was away and second one because my flight back to Canada was delayed 3 days... July 28, 2017. Such a luck anyway I got a letter for the test in October and I did a test in Saskatoon in November and passed with three other people there. After test during the interview they needed my travel history from CBSA because when I arrived Canada on PR they don't stamp the passport. I was told I will be called for my oath soon but nothing yet and my application shows "in process" still with nothing after step 6 about test. I called multiple times and I am told that my application is fine and I am due for oath soon. My other family members applied after me and failed once so had a retest and are called for Oath. Yet I haven't heard anything.. Why is that?

Contact your MP. They can inquire with IRCC about the state of your application.

IMHO, you and your family should take citizenship application responsibilities more serious.

I am sure that the responses from the IRCC would then be faster, and there would be less checking if you really reside in Canada, and if your family is really integrated in the Canadian society.

Send your local office a polite letter asking why your application is still in progress.

The family has been invited to take the oath (cf. "My other family members applied after me and failed once so had a retest and are called for Oath."), so it seems a bit odd to bring them into this.

Also, we don't actually know why there is a delay now. @waitinglikeyaall says "I called multiple times and I am told that my application is fine and I am due for oath soon.", so claiming that there are checks that still need to be done because of their lack of integration is based on... what, exactly? The fact that they were traveling the first time and their flight back was delayed the second time?

It's not even like the post was an unreasonable rant about the wait. It's someone explaining their situation and asking what should be done now. So why exactly are you blaming them for the current delay instead of, say, offering some constructive advice?

So, to make this thread a bit more positive, I'll expand on my previous bit of advice:

@waitinglikeyaall : as I mentioned, you can contact your MP.
You can find your MP at https://www.ourcommons.ca/Parliamentarians/en/members ; enter your postal code or voting district name in the search box. Your MP will have some people on staff who can get in touch with IRCC about your application and find out what's going on.

(That is not guaranteed to offer you much more information than what you were given by phone. Stress, when you see the MP's staff the long wait since your citizenship test, so they can craft a more focused inquiry about the reason for that.)

A second option is to call the call center once again and ask specifically if there is anything pending on your application, such as a security or criminality check. Not all call center agents will tell you, but if one of those is pending that could explain the delay. (Some of those checks expire after a certain time, so they may have needed to be restarted.)

You can, as a third option, make a request for your case notes (under the provisions of the privacy act). There is no cost associated with this (there is another way of getting the information that'll cost $5. It's the same information in each case). There is a 30 day wait to get the information, and some of the information in your file will be blanked out, as it is considered sensitive information.

I can't give you much advice on that (people on the forum will refer to this as "GCMS" or "ATIP" notes, the former is the name of the case management system IRCC uses, the latter the abbreviation for the law that created the process for these information requests). The general notes seem to be somewhat difficult to parse, as they contain much "boilerplate" text, but even so they may give a bit of a suggestion about what the hold-up is.

(One of the other posters tends to recommend people craft a targeted request, rather than just requesting the GCMS notes, to get more precise information. I've not seen any guidance on how to do so, however. https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...board/threads/gcms.539964/page-4#post-6717961)

A fourth option is for you to hire a lawyer who is familiar with citizenship law and IRCC processes, who may be able to assist you with any of the above approaches or may offer another avenue. Depending on what caused the hold up and how comfortable you are dealing with IRCC, this may prove to be a waste of money or it may be worth the cost. That is a trade-off you'd have to make yourself.

One last option: your application went AOR on April 4, 2017 so it will soon exceed 12 months processing time. You can at that point use the online web form (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp) to inquire about the status of your application. People have had mixed results taking this approach, but it's a fairly straightforward way of highlighting the delay.
