Need info on passport stamping in Detroit

Hi All,

I am planning to travel to Detroit for stamping once I receive my PPR. Need some information from the friends who had already travelled and stamped their passports there.

After stamping how do you land in Canada? You just cross the border to Windsor, clear your immigration, collect the necessary papers and then come back to Detroit. Does it work that way?

I will be travelling from India, so need this information to avoid any hassles there.

If you do not have any goods to follow or nothing to declare then it is as simple as you mention. However, if you have GTF, you need to have a list of that. Declare all your valuables etc. Amount of money you are bringing in (proof for that etc etc.) Please refer to CIC website regarding all that landing info. Also make sure nothing regarding your conditions have changed since you have applied. For example, if your marital status, no of dependents etc. has changed you will need to take care of that before you land.

Hope you receive it before October as you wish. Do let us know when you receive it.

You should be able to land smoothly at the border as long as your marital status, dependent status etc have not changed. Since you're traveling from India, carry bank statements for POF, just in case they ask at the border. Also, information about goods accompanying, goods to follow etc is also required at the border.

Are you in India now? Where did you do medicals from - India or Canada?

I'm in Canada, my wife is in India. My medical was done here, but my wife's medical was done in Dubai(she was there on visitor visa)

The Dubai Medical centre sent it to Ottawa. Its been already recd by Ottawa Office on 2nd of Aug.
