Hi,

I am a German citizen currently living in the Uk. My Partner and I are planning to move to Canada, ideally to Alberta, next year. I am 32, and she is 31 years old. She is now applying to multiple universities in Alberta as she has finished her bachelor's and wants to start her Masters next year. I was wondering if there are other ways for us to get to Canada in the meantime. I know I can still apply for a work travel visa as a German citizen, but she holds an English passport and is not eligible anymore. I was looking into the express entry as I am a trained chef ( German apprenticeship). I have worked and have 15+ years of experience, holding mainly managerial positions for the last 11 years. Would I be able to apply for express entry as a skilled worker with her ? are there any other options we might not have considered yet? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you all in advance

She can be included in your Express Entry application provided you are either married or common law. Common law means that you have lived together continuously for at least one full year and have evidence to prove it.

For Express Entry, you need to have enough points to be selected for this to be a realistic option. Have you calculated your points yet? If not, do that now so that you know if this is a feasible optio or not. Note that Express Entry processing times can take anywhere from 8 months to over a year so this won't necessarily get you here sooner.
