I know this is probably a complete long shot, in terms of trying to stay in Canada

I am currently on a working visa from the UK. I have had 2 years here, and my visa will be expiring at the end of October. I have been working for the Overwaite food group in Vancouver for 1 year and 9 months. My management have requested that they want me to stay, and want me to progress upwards within the company. The problem I face, is that my line of work is not on the list of skilled jobs required for a PNP. My store manager has told me he would be willing to sponsor me to stay, if it was possible.

Would there be any chance my company could promote a case, and the details of my work and employment, in order to extend my visa? Im trying my best to stay with my company, so I can progress within this company and set up my life here.

Im not sure If I need to go down the LMI, PNP, or I could just get my current working visa extended. If I have a chance of staying here, after my visa expires.

Hi,
Couple of questions, if I may...

1. What NOC is in your current WP?
2. Is this your first WP?
3. How many years have you been working in Canada?
4. Is your employer willing to extend a job offer and get a new LMIA for you?

Have you taken a look at the BC PNP website? There are a couple of options towards making a permanent move to Canada:
- Skilled: http://www.welcomebc.ca/Immigrate/About-the-BC-PNP/Skills-Immigration/Skilled-Worker.aspx
- Semi-Skilled/Entry-Level: http://www.welcomebc.ca/Immigrate/About-the-BC-PNP/Skills-Immigration/Entry-Level-or-Semi-skilled.aspx

.../all the best...

Hi

I think my NOC would be either 6611 or 6622.
This is my 2nd year on my WHV
I have been working in Canada for 1 year and 9 months
I have not asked my employer about LMIA yet, as I didn't know If I would definitely have a shot or not, being in a non skilled job. With the application fee being so high, you don't get a refund, if you get a negative LMIA. Although they want to keep me employed there if I can get an extension.

I was considering going to an Immigration consultant for help, but not sure if the fee is worth it. I just want to know if its worth trying or not basically.

Thanks

1. Well then there's the rub. Your NOC is under skill class D, which then makes your experience ineligible for CEC
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp
That path requires skilled work experience (NOC 0, A and B).

2. It seems you have to look towards a work permit extension, then your employer needs to get an LMIA for you. As to your chances, well first your employer needs to get that LMIA. If your employer is serious about keeping you there, then they need to accept the risks of non-refund.

3. Considering there is no clear direction from your employer, how to retain you and you yourself are wading through options, a reputable immigration consultant can be your recourse in determining the way to go. Before retaining one, check if they are registered with ICCRC http://www.iccrc-crcic.ca/

../Good luck and all the best
