My wife came to Canada on 16th Dec 2015 on visitor visa. At CBSA, the officer put a stamp of 15June 2016 (six months after the date of entry) on the passport. Then she applied for spousal Open Work Permit in late december 2015, which got refused on March 11, 2016 because I didnt upload employment letter, T4 etc with the application.
Now in the refusal letter which she received from CIC in OWP application, the following was written:-
" We also wish to advise you that your temporary resident status Expired on March 11, 2016.
You may apply for restoration if, within 90 days from the expiry of your temporary resident
status, you submit:
a completed application form;
applicable fees for restoration and for the immigration document(s). Payments should
be made online at www.cic.gc.ca. When you are finished, you must print the receipt of
payment and include it with your application.
all required documents in support of your application."
I talked to customer care in CIC office. The officer there told me that irrespective of what was written in the letter received on March 11, 2016, my wife has valid status till June 15 2016.
There is no need to apply for restoration of status.
I am confused now. Shoud I apply for restoration or not?
