we asked the Indian embassy and it said, it will take 6 months to a year to issue the certificate. I might have missed it on the application but where does it say, we have to get a clearance from other countries if we lived there, I can't find it. I want to make a reference to it in my letter.

I found the answer to my own question...so I guess, we will have to apply and wait to see what happens...I wish I had known about it earlier so I had obtained this document before I got married and decided to send the application to CIC :(

Good luck. But hijacking a thread may be not the best idea...

I am truly sorry, I did mean to hijack the thread...I've seen people asking related questions on a thread..If you want, I can delete my entries.. I've got no problem with that.. Hope your issue will be resolved too.

From my regional guide:
Police certificates or clearances from each country (including each republic of the former USSR)
in which you and everyone in your family aged 18 years or older have resided for six months or
more since reaching 18 years of age.
