Hi,

Thanks for reading this message.
I applied for temporary resident visa to canada and the CHC found some abnormality in my lungs and they asked me undergo sputum smear and culture test and to repeat my chest x-ray after 3 months to rule out active TB.

I had been infected with TB 10years before and i took proper treatment for 6 months. Still now i dont have any problem or even a small sign of cold or cough.

But now i am worried whether the sputum test will say inactive TB or what information does it provide..?
Please if anyone undergone the same please help me...

What is the purpose of repeating the chest X-Ray..If there is not any development of TB bacteria will they provide my visa..?

How these test results are going to affect my Visa..?

Please help me to know more about this...

1. If you have active TB you will be refused most likely.
2. If you have inactive TB your visa may be issued, but you will have attend a TB clinic in Canada for medical surveillance

Thanks for your immediate reply....

What is the difference between inactive/active TB..?
If i have the following symptoms does it mean active TB...?

A cough that last a long time
Fever
Constant tiredness
Weight loss
Night sweats
Loss of appetite
Coughing up blood (occasionally)

If i dont have the above symptoms does it mean inactive TB..?

Please anyone reply for my above query...as it's very urgent to solve my confusion.....

The doctor will actually let you know if it is active or inactive depending upon the result of sputum test.

This is what I got from WebMd:

"Tuberculosis (TB) - Symptoms

If you have latent tuberculosis (TB), you do not have symptoms and cannot spread the disease to others. If you have active TB, you do have symptoms and can spread the disease to others. Which specific symptoms you have will depend on whether your TB infection is in your lungs (the most common site) or in another part of your body (extrapulmonary TB).

There are other conditions with symptoms similar to TB, such as pneumonia or lung cancer.
Symptoms of active TB in the lungs

Symptoms of active TB in the lungs begin gradually and develop over a period of weeks or months. You may have one or two mild symptoms and not even know that you have the disease.

Common symptoms include:

* A cough with thick, cloudy, and sometimes bloody mucus from the lungs (sputum) for more than 2 weeks.
* Fever, chills, and night sweats.
* Fatigue and weakness.
* Loss of appetite and unexplained weight loss.
* Shortness of breath and chest pain."

In case if all test results show that I got inactive TB then how long will they take to issue the visa..? any idea or anyone who experienced plz share your experience......

Results of x-ray will reach the processing office about month. And if everything is complete, then they will request the passport.

Need details on active/inactive TB check up

Hi every one

Please can any one answer ASAP

Please give me some idea about my case. We finish our Medical checkup in September and CHC London received on 15th September 2009. Police Clearance certificate was sent together with RPRF through Canadian representative in first week of October 2009. In medical doctor ask me to go for C.T. Scan chest to confirm the old TB lesion, and old x-ray to compare with new one. We went through the process and report sent to CHC London. Now we received request to go for sputum test and x-ray after 6-8week.
My question is if it will be negative after mentioned period then when we can expect the passport request?
Thanks,

approximately in a month time after your exam, but it can take up to 2 months too - depends how busy your visa office is

Hello All,

I recieved letter from CHC, to undergo SPUTUM SMEAR CULTURE for 6 to 8 weeks.

I was infected with TB at the age of 15 and after treatment for 6 month, i never have had any problem since treatment.

Please let me know if some one with similar case could get through immigration process.

If yes, what were the test results.

Many thanks in advance.
