Hi everyone...just yesterday I printed all the forms and sent them to my husband so he could sign them too. I was working really hard on this application over the last month and a half and thought that I did everything correct but today just reading a forum one thing hit me. On the form IMM 0008 there is a question “have you ever used any other names?”. I thought that just putting there my maiden name and my nickname would be enough but the thing is that in my country we also use patronymic names and even though it doesn’t show on my passport and national ID, it does show on my police certificate, my birth and marriage certificates. So now I’m all stressed and don’t know what to do. Can my husband just hand-write that extra name on the form ( that form has already been validated)? Would it be allowed to hand write any extra information on the already validated forms? Or should I just leave it the way it is? Please help...any advice would be mega appreciated!!!!!!

Relax. When you get notification the application is accepted and you receive the UCI number, send a corrected for via a CSE. Piece of cake.

I wouldn't just send it then hope you are able to submit a CSE. It may be returned if they see it as a big enough "error" and therefore you wouldn't even receive UCI/app number etc. And your app would go to the back of the queue when you resubmit, losing you months.. I personally would say it isn't worth the risk.

Add it to the validated form writing it in by hand with ink.

Thank you! So it would be ok to hand write this extra information by ink (even though it’s a validated form)? I’m just so mad at myself because I spent so much time looking for the littlest imperfections and missed on such an important thing...

It happens and with these applications it happens a lot.. We spend so much time checking and looking at everything you start to doubt if you've spelt your own name correctly!

As long as its validated when sent. There were a few forms I had to use white out in as I had to put "present" for date etc and I can't remember if they were validated ones or not but as long as the form is validated and the correction is legible you should be fine.

I think the barcodes relate to the "pages themsel" not necessarily the info on them..if that makes sense.

I would have no doubt about adding in the info by hand and would do it on my own application.

Definitely don't leave it out, hoping you'll get chance to "let them know".

Thank you very much! I’ll definitely do it. I only had doubts about either I had to reprint that form again and send it to my husband but it would mean spending extra 100$ on the courier service again and waiting extra days more or just ask my husband to hand write that extra information. If it’s possible to just hand write it then it’s awesome. Thank you very much for your help! It’s really appreciated!

Unfortunately this isn't correct... information cannot be added by hand to validated forms. The barcodes do indeed contain all of the information that has been typed into the form. Validation isn't just to confirm that everything has been filled out correctly, it also generates the barcodes, which allows the forms and all the information typed on them to be quickly uploaded into their system without having to re-transcribe any information. Anything that's handwritten on a form after it's been validated will not show up in the actual information that is uploaded from the barcodes, so handwriting in this case will not solve the problem :(

I agree that the error should be fixed prior to submitting, relying on being able to submit a CSE means that you assume they will overlook the inconsistency and give AOR, which is not guaranteed.

Relax. Warsaw is used to the name issue you are talking about. Just write them in.

The problem is that I didn’t put that patronymic name nowhere in the forms...do you think it could be an issue?

Write an explanation and email it to your spouse to include behind IMM0008. Don't stress, not a big thing.
Thank you very much! My husband already called to CIC but they didn’t have any answers really so maybe I’ll try to send that Letter of explanation to my husband and hopefully it’s going to be fine.

Well, we will see. In my case I've added by hand on IMM 1344 (Q6) my Canadian Naturalization Certificate number and by the way on the same form our signatures and dates are written by hand, so they are not in barcodes.
On IMM 0008 I manually wrote (Q10) "Present" in To field and "N/A" in expiration date of foreign passport and my spouse name in Consent to release information section and signature and date again.

All this by your theory is not on barcode. Again, we will see. So far all I have is AOR and request for Schedule A and PCC. I just worry about SA at this point.

It isn't a theory. The barcodes contain the information that you fill out in the form. They scan the barcodes to quickly upload the info into the system. Anything that is handwritten is not included. While you should re-validate after adding/changing info, it isn't a big deal; the VO will input it manually.

They will add to their system anything the bar codes does not add for them.
