Thank you everyone for your input! I decided to ask my husband to hand-write that missing patronymic name right beside my maiden name that I have already put in the section “other names” and will also write a letter of explanation about that name so my husband could send it as well. I can’t see that hand writing that extra name would do any harm to the form in general and hopefully they would notice it and would be able to manually enter it into their system.

Apologies if i gave any info that wasnt correct..every day is a school day on here!

But worth noting that i had used ink on a barcoded form and i just received my AOR this morning.

Obviously we never want to leave anything to chance when submitting an application so just do all you can so that there are no questions or errors in the eyes of the VO. If it was me and i didnt have the time or option to reprint/resign etc i would correct in ink and include the explanation on a separate sheet and place that behind the form it relates to. At least there you are alerting them that you have done something in ink and they will know if that is going to "show up" on their system or not and then they make the call from there.

Congratulations on receiving AOR! I absolutely agree with you that this information should be put in by hand considering that I wouldn’t be able to reprint those forms and as soon as the documents arrive to my husband I will ask him to put in that extra word by hand. I already wrote a letter explaining that I put that extra “nickname” by hand because I accidentally forgot to put it in the form before printing it out but I was wondering if this letter of explanation needs to be signed and scanned or would it be sufficient to just attach it to this form with no signature? Thank you very much for your input, it’s really appreciated and at least I got a piece of mind now knowing that there is a solution to this situation!

Somewhere in detailed guide 5289 they say: "If you need more space for any question, attach a separate sheet of paper. Make sure you indicate the section and question you are answering (e.g. Part A, question 1)." OR

" If you need more space for any section, use a blank page to finish answering the question." OR

"If you need more space for any section, use a separate sheet of paper. Make sure you label this sheet with your name and the question you are answering."

It does make sense because it would mean that I continued answering that question on a separate sheet of paper. Thank you very much for your input, I’ll definitely email this extra sheet to my husband so he could include it with our application when the documents arrive to him but I will also ask him to just write my patronymic on the form as well in ink. Hopefully it will be sufficient for them!

It happens and with these applications it happens a lot.. We spend so much time checking and looking at everything you start to doubt if you've spelt your own name correctly!

As long as its validated when sent. There were a few forms I had to use white out in as I had to put "present" for date etc and I can't remember if they were validated ones or not but as long as the form is validated and the correction is legible you should be fine.

I think the barcodes relate to the "pages themsel" not necessarily the info on them..if that makes sense.

I would have no doubt about adding in the info by hand and would do it on my own application.

Definitely don't leave it out, hoping you'll get chance to "let them know".
Hi. Just a quick question...when you used white out in some of the forms, did you also write a letter explanation about it?

I didnt no. I used white out to allow me to write "present" or "current" somewhere an just did it. Didnt put an explanation sheet.
