Hi, So, I am a UK citizen and my fiancee is Canadian living in Alberta. We intend to marry there in February. At which point her property will be on sale. Our plan once done is to move abroad to live permanently.
My concern is if I move in with her as her husband, awaiting her sale and it doesn't happen before my 6 month tourist visa expires, what will be the consequences for me?
I have researched as much as possible but this appears to be a grey area. Likewise several emails to Immigration lawyers have not proved particularly enlightening either.
It makes no sense to ask her to go through the costly sponsorship process as we don't intend to live in Canada. Likewise a tourist visa is for tourists right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two things

You request an extension to your stay prior to your six months are up requesting an extension. You always want to maintain legal status .
It’s up the the IRCC to give approval. Shouldn’t be an issue
Do NOT underline your posting . It makes it extremely hard to read and there’s no need to

Thanks. The underlining happened automatically - was nothing to do with me but presumably a bug on here. I wasn't about to write it twice! I see it's fine now.
But what reason should I ask for an extension to my tourist visa? I can't really say I want to tour more if we're both at home trying to sell her property can I. Then again if I say my wife is selling her property that is surely going to set off alarm bells isn't it if I'm a UK citizen? So what to write on the online form? It's crucial as I would have given up my UK address. No UK address, no return flight ticket - it's complicated isn't it?

I think you could just tell the truth; say you are helping your wife sell her home so you can leave to the UK with her. Note that if you submit your extension in time during the whole time, they take to make a decision you will have implied status. Meaning you can stay for however long they take to grant the extension or not.

Did you read the initial post? That's exactly what I said, and no we are not moving to the UK to live. Thank you for the rest of your answer.

Yes, I read your post that's how I knew what you were doing sorry i misinterpreted abroad to mean UK as that is abroad from here. Was just trying to help no need to be snarky. I was saying why don't you just tell the truth.

Snarky? I did tell the truth word for word - you invented the UK! Anyway, have a good day and thank you for your input.

you said you were a UK citizen; so i figured you meant to live in UK, i didnt invent it. If you are going to be snarky maybe stick to the immigration lawyers you talked to instead of volunteers on a forum who owe you nothing.
