Hello Seniors,

I need an urgent advice. I am planning to get married soon to my gf who is an Indian Citizen but in States for on a study permit. I just want to get a civil marriage done in registrar`s office. Is it better to get married in Toronto and apply Inland or should I get married in New York and apply outland. I have both the options open and doesn't matter much, coz one of us will be travelling anyways.( She does has a Canadian tourist visa).

Also she will complete her course in December, so will not be able to permanently move till than.

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter where you get married. FYI - Having a simple civil marriage could create issues down the road for your sponsorship application if this isn't in line with cultural norms (i.e. if it's typical in your culture to have a large wedding with family attending).

She needs to be physically in Canada in order for you to apply inland. So the earliest you could apply inland is January if she needs until December to finish her studies.
