Need advice for ECA - 2 degrees from different countries !

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your previous suggestions..I gave my IELTS general exam last week so fingers crossed!

Now, my next step is ECA!

1. Can someone please advice if I should use WES based in Canada?

2. I did B-Tech from India and MSc Electronics from UK.
What kind of transcripts does WES accept? Is it the final degree or, I need to get some other type of document from the University?

3. Do I need to send all the mark sheets for each semester (total 8 mark sheets for B-tech and a final degree) ?

4. Do I need to send the originals or a Black/White or colored copy?

5. Will WES accept these transcripts if I ask my present University to send all the mark-sheets/degrees (both masters and bachelors) together as one package?

Would really appreciate if you could answer these and also suggest what should I do next in the process?

I will create the profile as soon as I send the documents for ECA and get my IELTS score.

Yes, WES Canada only (not the one in USA)

2. I did B-Tech from India and MSc Electronics from UK.
What kind of transcripts does WES accept? Is it the final degree or, I need to get some other type of document from the University?
Ask your University to provide you Transcripts (best thing to do is ask for two sets of transcripts) One set for yourself and one set to be sent to WES. Get a signed and sealed envelop from your University and include a photocopy of your degree certificate in this envelope. Include the WES Reference number on your envelope. Send this envelop yourself via courier to WES Canada.
For UK, visit your Uni website and order the transcript online by paying their fees (anywhere between 12 GBP to 50 GBP depending on the uni) and ask them to send it to WES Canada (provide them your WES reference number)

3. Do I need to send all the mark sheets for each semester (total 8 mark sheets for B-tech and a final degree) ?
Transcripts will have in total 4 pages - one page for each Engg. year.

4. Do I need to send the originals or a Black/White or colored copy?
Its upto you. If you send photocopies, then these MUST be attested by the University only.

5. Will WES accept these transcripts if I ask my present University to send all the mark-sheets/degrees (both masters and bachelors) together as one package?
Bachelors is a separate package and your Masters will be delivered as a separate package. Hence it is mandatory to mention the WES Reference number on both these packages.

WES reference number will be obtained only after you make the online payment.

Would really appreciate if you could answer these and also suggest what should I do next in the process?

The guidelines are different for different institutions. Once you make payment on WES site, you will get an email with a checklist which states what all documents needs to be sent and how. The email comes with the subject 'WES - Application Received (Automatic E-mail, Please do not reply) - Reference # (XXXXXX)'.

Having said that, the general guideline is stated below.

Arrange for the documents to be sent directly to WES by the university or autonomous college responsible for conducting the examinations.

If the document is given to you to forward to WES, it must be attested & dated and placed in an official sealed envelope that is signed or stamped across the back flap by the appropriate authentication officer at the university or autonomous college that conducted the examination. If the envelope has been opened or there is no stamp or signature across the back flap, the document will not be accepted by WES.

3. Do I need to send all the mark sheets for each semester (total 8 mark sheets for B-tech and a final degree) ?

Either a single transcript which includes the details of all 8 semesters or all the 8 mark sheets will have to be attested by the university

4. Do I need to send the originals or a Black/White or colored copy?

Only copies.

5. Will WES accept these transcripts if I ask my present University to send all the mark-sheets/degrees (both masters and bachelors) together as one package?

Yes, if the university gives the sealed envelopes to you to send to WES, then yes, you can put both the sealed envelopes in another envelope and send it to WES with the reference number mentioned on all the envelopes.

Create your profile only once you have the ECA report and IELTS score ready.

A candidate cannot send transcripts for UK qualifications by himself/herself.
Only the University must send it to WES directly.

@sushsmart15 : Wanted to clarify as I am currently in UK and would be much easier to get the Masters transcript. But it would be a pain to get the bachelors transcript, as the Indian University will need to post the transcript to me here in UK so that I can include the copies of the bachelors degree before sending it off to WES!

@Stanlee : Again, since I am not in India right now, Can my Indian University send the transcript to me in UK before sending them off to WES?

I doubt whether Indian universities would do it. Probably, you can ask any of your friends or relatives to collect it or get it sent to their address in India. They can in turn send it to you in the UK.

Go for international tracking post (though expensive but reliable) as you can track the same and get it delivered within a week's time. I selected this option.
